Mayor Pam Iorio, Tampa called upon the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay (CACCTB) in efforts to reach out to the Caribbean community soon after the devastating earthquake which destroyed the capital of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. The Chamber quickly assembled a team of Caribbean organisations and community leaders to meet with Mayor Iorio on 18th January to discuss how the City of Tampa can further assist with relief efforts in Haiti.. The Tampa Bay for Haiti Coalition of organisations included: Mango Radio, Haitian American Alliance, Haitian Association Foundation, Caribbean American Development Organization, along with other civic organisations. As the relief efforts continue the CACCTB in conjunction with the City of Tampa will continue to play a role in facilitating the efforts in making availble creole speaking volunteers, hosting the first US memorial service downtown Tampa and providing housing needs for our Haitian visitors.
